WHO WE ARE

Hope for Women and Children- Sierra Leone, abbreviated as (HWC-SL) Started as a Community Based Organization (CBO) in 2019. As a CBO, the organization faced a lot of challenges which among others were limited scope of intervention, lack of capacity and access to funds to fully implement activities. The founder Mr. Alisious Bundu identifying some challenges has decide to make the necessary amendment and agreed to register the organization as a National/Non-Governmental organization in 2022. Currently, HWC-SL is registered as a charitable National Non-Governmental Organization (NNGO) with the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MoPED), Ministry of Gender and Children Affair. And Moyamba Local District Council in the Republic Sierra Leone, West Africa with a vision to lead communities where women and children can live, work and play to protect the rights of all. It’s mission is to engage communities to empower women for sustainable development and support children for the better future.

It’s hoped to connect communities and create inclusive opportunities through managing projects that will unpin long-term sustainable development. It shall promote activities bordering on: Education, Women Empowerment, Agriculture and Food Security, Women’s Right, Child Protection, Research, Climate change, and Health. HWC-SL is a non-political, non-religious, non-tribal and non-profit making organization.

The aims and objectives of Hope for Women and Children- Sierra Leone shall be as follows:

Engage in Humanitarian/ development activities with huge focus on the organization’s thematic focus areas.

Collaborate with and seek assistance from funding bodies for the organization activities.

Foster peace, unity, hard work, patriotism, education and other positive values through the activities of the organization.

Founder’s and Executive Director of Hope For Women and Children-Sierra Leone

Alisious Bundu – founder and Executive Director of Hope for women and children – Sierra Leone. Bundu began to hear that many women and children were closed their doors in Sierra Leone due to insufficient support for their operational costs. Bundu brings to the role decades of experience in public service, with a focus on empowering underserved communities in Sierra Leone and developing high- impact policies and programs to support women and children in Sierra Leone.

FINANCE OFFICER

Mrs. Edna Fomba is the acting finance officer of hope for women and children – Sierra Leone. She has worked as an assistant finance officer in Kingham road hospital. She has worked as a finance officer, Moyamba District Health Management Team in Sierra Leone.

Mrs. Marian Jinah Nyoniyo is the acting program coordinator of hope for women and children – Sierra Leone. She has worked as a program coordinator of advocacy for children education in Sierra Leone.

MEET OUR BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The Board of Trustees is responsible for determining our strategy and policy as well as supervising our activities. Board Members are the fiduciaries who steer the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission. The Board of Trustees formulates principles and policies to govern the organization activities and operations, approves the work programme, adopts the Budget, reviews the structure and composition of staffing and performs other statutory function, including considering the methods of financing the organization with a view to ensuring the effectiveness of its future operations. The Board of Trustees meets twice per year. Board members are presented below.

MEET OUR ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Advisory committee provides technical and critical analysis of the Division activities to ensure that the quality standards adopted are in compliance with the Hope for Women and Children mandate and well-integrated in everything we do. Advisory committee members support our vision and mission through the thoughtful analysis of the Division's strategy planning and programme implementation, designed to affect long-term change that creates sustainable impact and empowers women and children's and organization to act as multipliers for positive change. The Advisory committee serves as a forum to advice the Executive Director. The board also advises on broader issues of the organization performance and learning.
